We have had an incredible amount of stand-up comedy specials released in 2022 on Netflix. One of the more impressive things is the wide range of comedians they bring to the streaming platform to keep us laughing. I firmly believe that most people underestimate the importance of comedians and how they help so many people get through their day with a simple joke or laugh. Here at Ready Steady Cut, we have compiled The Top 25 Best and Highest Rated Stand Up Comedy Specials on Netflix in 2022. We are using IMDb’s rating system to compile the list. Additionally, we will share an article of our review if we have published one on this site.

We will, of course, keep this page updated as we continue to find out what the best stand-up specials of 2022 are.

Top 25 Best Stand Up Comedy Specials on Netflix in 2022

25. Christina P.: Mom Genes

It hurts my soul that this special is so far down the list, as it is one of my favorite specials of the year. Christina P. isn’t afraid of the “politically correct” parts of the stand-up world, and I commended her for that.

Official Premise: Through the lens of Generation X, comedian Christina Pazsitzky explores the joys and stresses of parenthood, partnership, and more in the Gramercy Theatre in the heart of New York City.

Comedian: Christina P.

IMDb Rating: 6.0/10

Our Rating: 4.5/5 – Christina P: Mom Genes review

24. Ms. Pat: Y’all Wanna Hear Something Crazy?

Ms. Pat is a storyteller type of comic who is perfect at it. Touching on parenting, her upbringing, and how she turns her journey into comedy makes this one funny special.

Official Premise: Ms. Pat recalls growing up poor in Atlanta during the Reagan era, what she learned while spending five days in juvenile detention, and how her mum made her get baptized at local churches to get money.

Comedian: Ms. Pat

IMDb Rating: 6.1/10

Our Rating: 3/5 – Ms. Pat: Y’all Wanna Hear Something Crazy? review

23. Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy

My fellow RSC critic Romey Norton hit the nail on the head regarding Chieng: “He feels a bit safe in his comedy, and I feel he could take it further.”

Official Premise: The comic shares his rage at online critics, gratitude for nerds, bewilderment with irrational skeptics, and unique cure for racism.

IMDb Rating: 6.3/10

Our rating: – 2/5 – Ronny Chieng: Speakeasy review

22. The Hall: Honoring the Greats of Stand-Up

I didn’t happen to catch this one yet, but I have seen some snippets of it through social media. It has an incredible lineup for both presenters and comedians being honored.

Official Premise: A group of comedians celebrates their favorite late stand-up comics. John Mulaney honors Robin Williams. Dave Chappelle honors Richard Pryor. Chelsea Handler honors Joan Rivers. Jon Stewart honors George Carlin.

Comedians:  John Mulaney, Dave Chappelle, Chelsea Handler, Jon Stewart

IMDb Rating: 6.3/10

21. Yuri Marçal: Honest Mistake

While I myself have not seen this special, users across IMDb loved the special, coining it “brilliant, modern, and Yuri has an intelligent sense of humor.”

Official Premise: From sharing his unique views on family, race, and religion to detailing an online rift that blew up, Brazilian comedian Yuri Marçal isn’t holding back.

Comedian: Yuri Marçal

IMDb Rating: 6.3/10

20. Tim Dillon: A Real Hero

If I’m being honest, Tim Dillon’s special didn’t do much for me. I thought he had some good jokes, but most of the jokes fell flat. However, this is about where I’d rank the special myself.

Official Premise: The comic rants about fast food, living in Texas, Disney adults, and the reason why no one should be called a herDiStefano hit a home run in

Comedian: Tim Dillon

IMDb Rating: 6.4/10

Our Rating: 2/5

19. Chris DiStefano: Speshy Weshy

In his debut special for Netflix, DiStefano hit a home run with some fun and creative jokes about Covid. I have criticized so many comedians about their attempt at Covid jokes, but the ones that get it right are the ones that ‘get it,’ and DiStefano got it.

Official Premise: Fueled by six martinis and a sold-out crowd, the comic talks about getting yelled at on social media and why he’s waiting for his father to die.

Comedian: Chris DiStefano

IMDb Rating: 6.4/10

Our Rating: 4/5

18. Nick Kroll: Little Big Boy

The creator of Big Mouth has finally hit the stage for the streaming platform. While I don’t believe his work is for everyone, Kroll takes his raunchy humor and delivers some funny jokes.

Official Premise: The comic shares his comedy origin story, his first heartbreak, his strange hypnosis experience, and the trash-talking celebrity voice in his head.

Comedian: Nick Kroll

IMDb Rating: 6.4/10

Our Rating: 4/5 – Nick Kroll: Little Big Boy review

17. Ali Wong: Don Wong

I am not sure what it is about Ali Wong, but her stand-up has never really done anything for me. I think she has some funny jokes from time to time, but none of her specials have really connected the dots from beginning to end.

Official Premise: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the comic reveals her wildest fantasies, the challenges of monogamy and how she really feels about single people.

Comedian: Ali Wong

IMDb Rating: 6.5/10

Our Rating: 2/5

16. David A. Arnold: It Ain’t for the Weak

It was the debut of David A. Arnold on Netflix, and he absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark. It’s sad after 20+ years in the business, Arnold finally got his moment and sadly passed away mere months later.

Official Premise: From Cleveland, the comic jokes about marital spats and entitled kids as he shares a behind-the-scenes look at his family.

Comedian: David A. Arnold

IMDb Rating: 7.0/10

Our Rating: 4/5 – David A. Arnold: It Ain’t for the Weak

15. Cristela Alonzo: Middle Classy

RSC writer Adam Lock had the perfect words for the special, “The comedy itself can sometimes be predictable and even forgettable, but her take on topics and personal stories are both insightful and perceptive.”

Official Premise: The comic shares the joys of aging in her 40s, her first-ever experience with a gynecologist, and the importance of family.

Comedian: Cristela Alonzo

IMDb Rating: 6.7/10

Our Rating: 3/5 – Cristela Alonzo: Middle Classy review

14. Chappelle’s Home Team – Earthquake: Legendary

Earthquake has been doing this for a LONG TIME, and his delivery, timing, and storytelling are proof of that. You already know you are in for a treat when the comedian has the Dave Chappelle seal of approval.

Official Premise: Earthquake shakes up the stage with his takes on “health is wealth,” prostate exams, and one particularly lengthy celebrity funeral.

Comedian: Earth Quake

IMDb Rating: 6.8/10

Our Rating: 3.5/5

13. That’s My Time with David Letterman

I am a big fan of these types of specials because you get a wide range of diverse comedians who have been doing the time that finally get that platform to showcase their skills. Rosebud Baker is someone who has been killing this space for a long time, and she was incredible on this one, as was Sam Morril, but more on him later.

Official Premise: A showcase of comics includes stand-up sets and conversations with TV talk show host David Letterman.

Comedian: Sam Morril, Naomi Ekperigin, Rosebud Baker, Brian Simpson, Robin Tran, Phil Wang

IMDb Rating: 6.7/10

Our Rating: 3.5/5 – That’s My Time with David Letterman review

12. Paul Virzi: Nocturnal Admissions

While Virzi’s debut special had some highs and lows, the highs are so high that you walk away impressed with his work. It was my introduction to Virzi, and I wanted more after watching this one.

Official Premise: The comic takes the stage to spill the truth about awkward drugstore runs, his obsession with crime shows, and why his wife sabotaged his fitness goals.

Comedian: Paul Virzi

IMDb Rating: 6.9/10

Our Rating: 3/5

11. Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet

Over six thousand people have rated this special on IMDb, with over three thousand over them rating ten stars. I have added this to the top of my watch list because of the reviews.

Official Premise: From the liquid courage behind his tweets to the sobering realities of making it in Mumbai, the comic pours his heart out with a heavy dose of humor.

Comedian: Kapil Sharma

IMDb Rating: 7.0/10

Our Rating: 3/5

10. Aziz Ansari: Nightclub Comedian

I am a huge Aziz fan, but this special was awful. I hated his entire pandemic/vaccine jokes as they weren’t funny, and throughout the special, it felt like he was beating a dead horse repeatedly.

Official Premise: After another year of lockdown, the comic takes the stage in a New York City nightclub to skewer pandemic life, quarantines, vaccine cards, celebrity side gigs, smartphones, and more.

IMDb Rating: 7.0/10

Our Rating: 1.5/5

9. Liss Pereira: Adulting

A rather new special that hasn’t seen many reviews on IMDb as of right now. However, of the thirty on the site, twenty-five have been rated seven or higher.

Official Premise: The comic gets real about relationships, adulthood and being somewhere in between in a world of extremes.

IMDb Rating: 7.0/10

Our Rating: 3/5

8. Whindersson Nunes: My Own Show!

While stateside she might not be well known, Nunes is a staple in the Brazilian comedy scene. In her first special for the streaming giant, she delivers the goods. Her upbeat personality, mixed with some quirky storytelling, makes her someone to keep on your radar.

Official Premise: Comedian Whindersson Nunes brings his quirky impersonations and streetwise takes on different cultures to the historical stage of Teatro Amazonas.

IMDb Rating: 7.1/10

Our Rating: 3/5

7. Jo Koy: Live at the Los Angeles Forum

While I haven’t checked this one out yet, RSC writer Romey Norton really dug this one, saying, “A very honest, relatable, and funny stand-up show and Koy has some seriously white teeth on display.”

Official Premise: The comic gushes about his relationship with his teenage son, shares the struggles of living with sleep apnea, and more in a night of stand-up comedy at the Los Angeles Forum.

IMDb Rating: 7.2/10

Our Rating: 3.5/5 – Jo Koy: Live at the Los Angeles Forum review

6. Sam Morril: Same Time Tomorrow

The single best stand-up comedy special that has been released in 2022. I understand that this special wasn’t for some but Morril delivers in ways that no other comedian has this year about topics that most are afraid to tackle.

Official Premise: Sam Morril delivers his trademark dry and dark punchlines in a stand-up set on everything from problematic fairy tales to weirdly specific p*********y.

IMDb Rating: 7.4/10

Our Rating: 5/5 – Sam Morril: Same Time Tomorrow review

5. Taylor Tomlinson: Look At You

It’s wild that my number one and two stand-up specials line up back to back on this list. Tomlinson is HILARIOUS and the funniest woman on the planet. Crazy enough, I think she is just getting started.

Official Premise: The comic shares an intimate look at her struggles with mental health, grief, and dating, from Wilbur Theater in Boston.

Comedian: Taylor Tomlinson

IMDb Rating: 7.4/10

Our Rating: 4/5 – Taylor Tomlinson: Look At You review

4. Ricky Gervais: Supernature

There are people who love Ge and those who don’t, and I am more in line with the latter. I don’t not like Gervais, I just feel he tries so hard to be edgy or controversial for the sake of being edgy or controversial.

Official Premise: With his signature black humor, the comic gives his take on the rules of comedy, spoiling his cats and the wonders of nature, from the London Palladium.

IMDb Rating: 7.6/10

Our Rating: 2/5 – Ricky Gervais: Supernature review

3. Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special

A legend in the game of stand-up comedy went out with a bang.

Official Premise: Nothing Special is a stand-up comedy special featuring Norm Macdonald, consisting of 50 minutes of previously unreleased material recorded by Macdonald in June 2020 and a half-hour roundtable discussion featuring his friends and colleagues reflecting on his life and career.

IMDb Rating: 7.6/10

2. Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy

Shen Wang has an interesting delivery within his stand-up game that kind of throws you off guard. It’s this monotone style that strangely delivers within each of his jokes.

Official Premise: Sheng Wang delivers a laid-back set on juicing, mammograms, how snoring is an evolutionary mistake and the existential angst of buying pants from Costco.

IMDb Rating: 7.7/10

Our Rating: 3.5/5 – Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy review

1. Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks

At this point, I think the editors here at Ready Steady Cut knew that this would be number one and wanted to troll me into writing this piece. We all know how I felt about this special, and I know how all of you felt about how I felt about this special. I hope Burr comes back strong with his next special.

Official Premise: The comic sounds off on cancel culture, feminism, getting bad reviews from his wife, and his life-changing epiphany.

IMDb Rating: 7.7/10

Our Rating: 1.5/5 –  Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks review
